The gravestones above are superb examples of ornate workmanship and seem to be less common in modern Scottish churchyards.
Trades and occupations of those buried in the past were often carved on headstones.
Modern tools, methods and craftmanship, have no doubt, contributed along with changes in taste and design to the modern styles we see.
Many fallen stones in this kirkyard are placed along the wall making viewing difficult. Like Kinnettles, and other churchyards, the original placements will probably be, unfortunately, unidentifiable.
